FOOD SERVICE
FROM THE DIRECTOR

The Fremont Public School Food Service Department is a parent supported and federally assisted child nutrition feeding program. The goal of the FPS Food Service Department is to provide nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free meals to all FPS students. All school meals must meet federal requirements and must be offered for free or at a reduced price for all eligible children. Good nutrition provided by school meals is an essential part of the education of students and well-nourished students can learn at their highest potential. The FPS Food Service Department also operates: 9 School Breakfast Programs, Summer Feeding Programs, After School Snack Programs, Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Programs, 3 Pre-School Meal Programs, and prepares food for other special events as requested. The FPS Food Service Department has 54 employees that are responsible for the preparation and serving of all meals, cleaning, dishwashing and maintenance of food service equipment in the 10 FPS school kitchens, which prepare more than 685,000 school meals each year.
